Hello, Truckers!

Start your engines because Patch #21 for Truck Driver®: The American Dream is now live on PlayStation®5 and Xbox Series X|S! This update brings a haul of improvements across all supported platforms.

With this latest update, you can now enable mini-map rotation and enjoy enhanced side mirrors. The game has been upgraded to Unreal Engine 5.5, providing an FPS boost for a smoother driving experience. In addition, five new free-to-roam missions have been added, giving you even more challenges to take on.

Patch #21 also brings platform-specific upgrades, including ray tracing enhancements for PS5™ Pro and Xbox Series S, as well as increased resolution for Xbox Series X. On top of that, you’ll find new truck paint jobs, UI refinements, and various bug fixes to keep your journey running smoothly.

Patch #21 PlayStation®5 & Xbox Series X|S:

All Platforms

  • Mini-map Rotation Option: Added a new option to enable mini-map rotation, available in the Display settings.
  • Side Mirror Improvements:
    • Introduced an improved version of side mirrors, selectable in the General settings.
    • The original side mirror version has also been enhanced with volumetric cloud rendering.
    • The improved version features a longer draw distance and a refresh rate matching the game's framerate, but may impact performance in 60FPS modes.
  • Migration to Unreal Engine 5.5: All versions benefit from a 3-5 FPS boost with the same or higher overall resolution under identical conditions (see platform-specific updates below).
  • Weather & Visual Enhancements:
    • Improved weather effects (particles, fog).
    • Dust now accumulates on truck windows over time. Entering a gas station or sleeping station removes the dust, while rain automatically cleans the windows.
    • Improved truck wiper mechanics—wipers no longer clean the windshield 100%, and previously cleared areas will become wet again when wipers change position.
    • Additional dashboard and mini-map lighting states for better balance based on time of day and weather conditions.
  • Performance Optimizations:
    • Improved frame-time handling for 30Hz, 40Hz, 60Hz, and 120Hz (40Hz and 120Hz supported only on PS5 family consoles).
  • Audio & Cutscene Adjustments:
    • Updated cutscene audio positioning.
    • Fixed James' telephone VO at the end of Chapter 4.
    • Adjusted April's VO in Chapter 6 to correct loudness and reverberation issues.
  • New Missions: Added five new free-to-roam missions:
    • 2 Deadline Missions
    • 2 Random Delivery Missions
    • 1 Double Delivery Mission

Platform-Specific Updates

PS5 Pro Only

  • Ray Tracing (RT) Enhancements:
    • Improved RT reflections quality in Performance RT Mode.
    • Enhanced RT reflections on translucent windows when using the in-cabin camera (exclusive to PS5 Pro).
    • Added distance field RT shadows for better depth and accuracy.
  • Virtual Shadow Maps: Improved rendering quality and performance.

Xbox Series X Only

  • Increased Rendering Resolution by 10% for sharper visuals.

Xbox Series S Only

  • Ray Tracing Upgrades:
    • Full software-based ray tracing added to Quality and Quality Unlocked modes.
    • Now supports RT reflections, ambient occlusion (AO), and global illumination.
  • Extended Draw Distance:
    • Increased from 51,200 to 76,800.
    • (For comparison, Xbox Series X draw distance is 102,400.)

Bug Fixes & General Improvements

  • Mission Fixes: Resolved various bugs in existing missions.
  • Map & UI Improvements:
    • Fixed a bug preventing players from keeping custom waypoints after switching to the Skills menu.
    • Corrected an issue in Photo Mode where value controls in certain tabs were blocked.
    • Fixed rotation of POIs on the rotating mini-map.
    • Adjusted scaling for several key icons on the world map.
  • Traffic & World Fixes:
    • Fixed automatic generation of traffic paths on L-junctions.
    • Removed traffic from several dead-end roads.
    • Fixed physics issues with trailers when multiple trailers are spawned.
    • Updated LOD (Level of Detail) settings for major static meshes to improve performance.
    • Fixed issue where some traffic vehicles’ tires appeared to be floating above the road.
  • Localization & Audio Fixes:
    • Various localization corrections.
    • Additional UI refinements.
    • Improved steering wheel implementation – sensitivity can now be set to a higher value in the Controls settings. When using a steering wheel, the in-cabin steering wheel mesh animation is now synchronized with the movement of the real wheel. When using only the DualSense controller, the previous animation system will remain in use.
  • New Content:
    • Added new paint jobs for traffic trucks and buses.
